Thanksgiving is a great time of year for celebrating with family and friends.  It can also be one of the most dangerous times of the year.  Traveling long distances, frying or smoking a turkey and too much alcohol can lead to accidents.

Take it easy this year.  Plan your travel with plenty of extra time for traffic, road construction and weather.  Road construction on Highway 412 bypass in Paragould is in full swing.  Highway 67 traffic from Pocahontas to Corning is becoming increasingly congested.  Highway 63 around Walnut Ridge and Hoxie continues to be a road with a lot of serious accidents.  Drive safe and slow.

Deep frying turkeys should be done outside, not under carports, garages and awnings.  Always check oil with a thermometer to determine the right temperature.  Do not leave it unattended.  Enjoy your turkey, dressing and pie before hitting the recliner.

Take it easy on the alcohol and enjoy your time with family.  Be safe during the holidays and Happy Thanksgiving.
